Backpacker’s Itinerary : Exploring Malacca (Part 2)

Malacca is such a lovely city, the heritage site is walkable and it is affordable. So if you visit the city, and stay near Malacca river, it is not very far from the heritage area, even the hotels along the Malacca River are heritage.

What to do in daytime?

Christ Church Cathedral

Visit the Christ Cathedral in the heritage area, the Anglican church which was built in 1741. Prior from the development, the church painted with white color, but in the 1911, the church and the area surrounding painted in red color, and become landmark of the area. There is no ticket fee to enter the area.

Pedestrian Along Malacca River

Most of the buildings back side along the Malacca River are painted with various colors and also become mural media for the artists.

St. Paul’s Church

Built in 1521, the church becomes the oldest church in Malaysia even in southeast Asia. The church located in the summit of Saint Paul’s Hill and belongs to heritage complex area in Malacca.

Malacca Sultanate

The next destination is the Malacca Sultanate, to enter this area you must pay the ticket fee 10RM for foreigner.

The Malacca Sultanate was founded by Parameswara in 1400. The building becomes museum building now, which displays diorama and historical stories.

Last but no least The Famosa Settlement Malacca

Famosa

The site located near the entrance of Malacca Sultanate area. Built in 1511, it is one of the best sightseeing spot in Malacca.

    The last time I went there, I took my gf to St. Paul’s Church at night. The dim light gave the church a certain ambiance and we stroll around the area about half an hour. 😀
